Legal Guardianship Assistance

At 18 all individuals, including those with developmental disabilities, reach the legal age of majority.  This means that parents can no longer make decisions legally on behalf of an adult child, regardless of the nature of the individual's disability and regardless of whether or not the individual still lives with the family.

Some families decide to explore guardianship as an option for their family member. Although it is possible to obtain guardianship without an attorney, some families use an attorney.

Embarking on the legal guardianship journey for a loved one with developmental disabilities can be both complex and emotionally challenging. At Caring For Families Social Services, we understand the importance of securing a stable and supportive future for your family member, and we're here to guide you every step of the way without the use of an attorney or high legal fees.

Our compassionate team is committed to understanding your specific situation and providing tailored support to ease the process.
